Yoga Class Descriptions
Level 1 - This class is for beginning yoga students and experienced practitioners who want to get back to basics. You will practice basic yoga poses and cultivate awareness through attention to breathing and alignment.
Power Yoga - Each session is primarily focused on developing proper body alignment in yoga postures, increasing flexibility both in mind and body, and building physical strength and endurance. It is also a great way to advance your personal yoga practice and style
Prana - An enjoyable and healthful practice that helps you move, breathe, and live with greater joy and ease, and experience life with a peaceful sense of well-being.
Restorative - The yoga of deep, awareness & relaxation. It is a Yoga of ‘Being’, rather than a Yoga of ‘Doing’. Through the practice of yoga ( asana, meditation, and pranayama), we reach towards optimal health and energy flow. Restorative yoga is designed for the recovery of health and vitality. Poses are gentle , ususually supported by props, and held for some time in balanced alignment. Different forms of pranayama (breathing practices) are often practiced in some supine poses. This type of practice can be modified to accommodate a wide range of students’ physical health and goals.
Vinyasa - Refers to the alignment of movement and breath, a method which turns static Asanas into a dynamic flow.
Vinyasa Basics - Welcoming beginning yoga students and experienced practitioners alike. This class encompasses flowing Vinyasa sequences, breath awareness, alignment, and relaxation.
Vinyasa Open - Varying degrees of chanting, flowing sequences, philosophy, breath awareness, alignment, relaxation, and meditation.
Aligned Vinyasa - This is a an alignment based class, designed to deepen your understanding of the postures as you build strength and flexibility in a Vinyasa flow. Students will move through Sun Salutations, and learn varying Asanas with plenty of modifications available, making this class open to all levels who want to safely grow their yoga practice, in physical, mental and spiritual strength for use on and off the mat.
Yoga for Musicians - This class focuses on the connection between the mind and body in relation to one's music-making. As any musician knows, we all have mental and physical blocks that can restrict the fullness of our expression on an instrument. This class is designed to examine these factors in order to learn how to embrace them and move forward. Each class will include asana (postures), pranayama (breathing exercises), and meditation. All levels welcome.
This class draws together the Hatha Yoga asana practice with tantric philosophy. Students of all levels can individualize their practice so that it becomes something that fits their needs on a day-to-day basis, on and off the mat. Props and Modifications are given to help support the students' progress. Meditation is taught and incorporated in the second part of class, encouraging everyone to reach into their unbound potential.
“As your mind becomes harmonized through yoga practices, you begin to see the Atman in all beings and all beings in your Self;
you see the same Self everywhere in everything.” Bhagavad Gita
